# Changes, review and merge

> How review works in AQ: the Changes panel scopes, line comments that ride your next message, review threads, the pull request card, and when merge waits.

The Changes panel is where you review an agent's work in AQ. It is the default view of a work item's Code panel, and it carries the diff, line comments, a review button, commit, open pull request and merge. File links and review findings in the transcript open it at the right file.

## Scopes

- **This turn:** what the agent changed in its last turn, measured against the checkpoint taken before it, so a pull or rebase never shows up.
- **Uncommitted:** everything not committed yet.
- **Branch vs base:** the whole branch against the base it came from.
- **One commit:** a single commit.

## Line comments

Click a line to pin a comment. It rides your next message to the agent as "at path:line: your words", or you can send it on its own. Files you have read get a tick.

## Review threads

Review starts a read-only review thread on the diff. Its findings come back as comments pinned to the lines they are about. A review of the whole branch records the commit it reviewed, so AQ knows when the review goes stale.

## The pull request card

Commit, Open PR and Merge are in the panel; the pull request card in the thread carries the checks, the review state and Fix with this thread, Re-review, Merge and Open on GitHub. Merge squashes on GitHub and is refused, with the reason in words, while checks are pending or failing, while the head commit is unknown, or while the review is older than the head.

## Security scans

Scan the uncommitted diff, the branch or the codebase with Hinoki for exploitable vulnerabilities, with severity, evidence and a fix for each finding. Product overview: [review and merge](https://aq.dev/product/review/).
