# Your agents can use your tools. You decide what they may do.

> Connect Linear, GitHub, Slack, Gmail, Google Calendar, Granola, Sentry and Mercury once, and every AQ agent can use them with Allow, Ask or Off per tool.

Connect an account once and it works in every thread, on every agent. Each tool is Allow, Ask or Off, and Ask works in the middle of a turn.

AQ integrations let your agents work with the tools your team already uses. You connect your own account once in Settings, and from then on every chat, work item and bot you drive can call it, on Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and the other agents AQ runs, with the permission you chose for each tool.

## What you can connect

| Account | What agents can do |
| --- | --- |
| Linear | Read and update issues. Labelling an issue ai-task creates a work item and moves it to In Progress. |
| GitHub | Commit, push and open pull requests with each person's own account; merge from the pull request card. |
| Slack | Search and read channels and threads, and post where you allow it. |
| Gmail | Search, read, label and draft. There is no send tool. |
| Google Calendar | Read events and free or busy time. |
| Granola | Read meeting notes and transcripts. |
| Sentry | Read issues and events; analysis and updates ask first. |
| Mercury | Read accounts and transactions; payment requests need your approval in Mercury. |

Connect more than one account of the same service (two Gmail inboxes, two Slack workspaces), each with its own name and permissions.

## Allow, Ask or Off, per tool

Allow

### Reads just work

Reviewed read-only tools start on Allow, so searching and reading need no click.

Ask

### Approve in the moment

Anything that changes something starts on Ask. The agent waits on a card in its thread until you choose.

Off

### Never available

Turn a tool off and no agent can call it.

Only the account's owner can answer an Ask, and Always allow flips that one tool to Allow. Your personal accounts attach to a turn only when you are the person it runs as, so a teammate driving your work item never borrows your inbox.

Choose Allow, Ask or Off for each tool. With Ask, the agent waits for your answer before using it.

## Drive AQ from your own tools

On the Pro plan, the [AQ API](https://aq.dev/docs/api/), signed webhooks and AQ's own [MCP server](https://aq.dev/docs/mcp/) let Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or your scripts create work items, read them and message them. Linear intake is described in [the Linear integration docs](https://aq.dev/docs/linear-integration/).

Connections are per person and stay encrypted with AQ.

## Frequently asked questions

### Which tools can AQ agents use?

Linear, GitHub, Slack, Gmail, Google Calendar, Granola, Sentry and Mercury, through accounts each person connects, plus AQ's own tools for work items, previews and memory.

### Can an AQ agent send email from my Gmail?

No. AQ's Gmail connection can search, read, label and write drafts. It has no send tool.

### How do I stop an agent from doing something in a connected tool?

Set that tool to Ask or Off. On Ask the agent pauses and asks you in its thread; on Off it cannot call the tool at all.

### Does each teammate connect their own accounts?

Yes. A connection belongs to the person who made it and is used only on turns that run as that person.
